Quick Overview

Sabja seeds also known as basil seeds refer to black-colored seeds which look similar to chia seeds. Although native to India, they are slightly different from the holy basil tree. They are the seeds of Ocimum basilicum, also known as sweet basil. This is why sabja seeds are also known as sweet basil seeds. They are quite hard and cannot be consumed raw. When soaked in water, they turn gelatinous and can be consumed.
